The Portege R400 was already a sleek and stylish design with some useful features, but the increased speed of HSDPA 3G makes it all the more appealing.

It's rare to find a notebook as versatile as the LifeBook P1610. There are certainly compromises to be made for its tiny frame and convertible design, but if blistering performance isn't essential, the P1610 is well worth a look.

This unit is clearly not built for performance, but manages to do the basics with some serious style. Its cool operating temperature makes it comfortable to use over extended periods and we liked the responsive tablet controls.

The A4 size is comfortable to use and the notebook mode is great for doing those tasks that need more than a pen can offer. It's not a powerful machine, but its battery life will keep you going for a while.

The Fujitsu Lifebook T4220 is a powerful and responsive Tablet but the indoor/outdoor screen coating may irritate people who plan to use the device insode more than outside.

With its ultra low voltage CPU the C1 Express Dual offers little in the way of power, but is extremely portable with some good hybrid notebook and tablet features.

Nicely designed and comfortable to use, despite the screen glare. Just be sure to pack the AC adapter.

For tablet users this small, light tablet PC will offer hours of casual usage away from a power source and will comfortably handle a good range of commonly used software. The standard ThinkPad chassis is rugged and is easy to hold onto. The 8-cell battery protrudes from the edge of the unit, which looks a little strange in notebook mode, but acts as a great grip when in tablet mode.

The Toshiba Portege R400 Tablet PC may carry a premium price tag, but it comes with some innovative new features and the promise of more still in later models. It's sturdy and lightweight, and looks stylish. Although it might be better to wait until the potential of this unit has been realised, it's still a top product and a pleasure to use.

If you need a notebook that can also double as a tablet PC and won't be moving around too much, the R20 is a great choice.

This unit doesn't come cheap and for the price you might expect better performance. However, its battery life was excellent and it's a well designed machine with good functionaility.
