Verizon’s Data Security Expertise Is a Main Feature at RSA 2011
Attendees Can Learn About Integrating Findings From Verizon’s 2010 Data Breach Report; Best Practices for Securing the Cloud and Guarding Against ID Theft and Fraud
Sydney, AUSTRALIA - 17 February 2011– Verizon is a major participant at the RSA Conference 2011 this week, offering advice on how companies can improve their data-security programs and providing security experts who will make presentations and participate in panel discussions to share their experiences and expertise.
At the Verizon booth (#323) at the Moscone Centre, where the conference is being held Monday (Feb. 14) through Friday (Feb 18), attendees can learn how to integrate findings from Verizon’s 2010 Data Breach Investigations Report into their own security programs; review new statistics gathered from the VERIS community website (which gathers data on security incidents from participating organizations); find new ways to better guard against identify theft and fraud; and examine best practices for securing the cloud.

Thursday, Feb. 17
• “Metrics are Bunk!? The Zombie Apocalypse, Baseball, and Security Metrics,” 10 a.m., Orange Room 300. Verizon’s Alex Hutton and The 451 Group’s Josh Corman will discuss the following: As IT security matures, security professionals look more and more to metrics. Is this realistic? Are metrics even real? Amidst constant change, which metrics matter? Which do not?
• “PCI Compliance in the Cloud: Why or Why Not?” 11:10 a.m., Orange Room 305. Two Verizon PCI experts, Mike Dahn and Martin McKeay, will discuss the challenges associated with moving to the cloud while remaining compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard.
• ”Where Should Security Live?” 11:20 a.m., Orange Room 303. Ken Biery, a cloud security expert, will highlight how the extended enterprise and new technologies have pushed out the boundaries of security and how to implement security in the future.
