Parrot MKi9200

Hello. I read your excellent review on this latest Parrot device. However I'm experiencing some difficulties with mine. Do you have any advices? - details of the problem below;
1. The device won't always recognise my ipod is connected when I turn on the car's ignition.
2. What I have to do now is turn on/off the car's ignition and it recognise's my ipod, but this does not always work.
3. When the device does work the ipod, after varying lenghts of time, it causes my ipod to 'freeze' and the kit's ipod menu will not work the ipod.
4. I must then physically disconnect my ipod, reset it and start the entire process again of ignition on/off, once or twice for the kit to recognise it.
5. I have had my ipod checked out on Apple's website and it is functioning normally and with the latest software.
6. I selected 'UPDATE' under the settings menu on the kit in an attempt to resolve the ipod problem and now the kit won't connect to my phone via Bluetooth??
My ipod is 8g 3rd generation nano. My phone is Nokia 5310.
Many thanks for taking the time to read my dilemma!
Regards,
Ryan Kinsella

Re: Parrot MKi9200

Hi Ryan,
Thanks for your enquiry.
The problems you are experiencing with this unit are fairly common. According to Parrot, an early batch of their blueboxes (the brains behind the system and the small box that is installed behind the dash) were faulty, resulting in a number of issues, including the ones you described.
I was experiencing similar problems to you, and they were resolved by replacing the Bluebox and now my unit is running fine and with no issues. It seems a few of the early models had many bugs, so this is an issue with Parrot's software.
However, you can first try to update to the latest software version which I believe is 1.10. To do this, you need to follow the instructions here: http://www.parrot.com/usa/support/onlinehelpfiles/parrot-mki9200/
Basically, you download the software onto a USB stick, plug the stick into the USB port on the Parrot unit in your car, and then select update from the MKi9200 menu.
Try this first, then if you are still experiencing issues the best advice would be to contact Parrot support. They are well aware of the problems, so you should have no issues in organising a replacement bluebox to be installed.
Where did you purchase the unit from and who did the installation? Are you from Australia?
If you like you can send me an email direct instead of using helpscreen. My email address is ross_catanzariti@idg.com.au
Thanks.
