Google Android

What does everyone think about the Google Android operating system for mobile phones?

Of course, only two phones in Australia so far have been released (The HTC Dream and the HTC Magic) but Motorola, LG, Samsung and Sony Ericsson are releasing Android phones before the end of the year.

Google Android G1 Software FIX needed...

FYI I'm on my 4th (that's 4X!) no charge replacement G1 phone in < 3 months after going w/ T-Mobile's Google phone offering Vs. Apple iPhone. Thought I'd be different & go G1 but didn't know HOW different! LOVE the growing apps list with user FRIENDLY utilities, etc but maybe Android should better screen apps B4 they appear for downloading BECAUSE...

I believe there is a known-but-NOT-OPENLY-shared issue with glitches w/ Android operating system specifically with G1 phone Vs. newer "my Touch" Android phone.

I'm hanging in there with current G1 phone working OK mostly the last 3 weeks since rec'd & have re-loaded most of great utilities that have not crashed Andy's software. (XX your fingers!)

I LOVE the slider keyboard PLUS touch screen keyboard Vs. iPhone & My Touch "touch-screen-ONLY" design so that is why I'm being so stubborn AND LOYAL to T-Mobile's G1.

Check back, though, in 3 months or so.... just 2B sure I'm w/ Andy still!

I love it!

The google integration is outstanding. It's hard to describe without having a phone for a few weeks. When I search for things on my PC, I find myself switching to the phone. The GPS support makes it so much easier to find things around my area. Plus, the seamless way it integrates search, maps and now buzz...it's become a part of life.

Example. I was driving to a friend's place who I hadn't been to before. I used Google maps to get directions. It tracked me the whole way. We hit traffic and there was already a buzz about a multi-car crash, which was geotagged, showing where the accident was. I was able to see it was about a mile ahead. Pretty soon, Google maps updated to show the congestion in it's "traffic" layer.

I'm on the G1 and it's waaayyy too slow. I'll eligible for a new phone soon and I'm hoping there's something with the hardware power of the droid, but nicer looking. Maybe I'll go Nexus.
