transfering video from camcorder to laptop

i want to transfer video from my camcorder to my laptop, i just seem to be having
trouble with sortware & cables & just cant do it. any help?

Hi k8nzzs. What camcorder are you using? What laptop model? What editing software and cables? I'll need some more information before I can offer any help.

Okay, what editing program are you attempting to use? Explain to me what happens when you plug your camcorder into the laptop -- what is the exact problem?
