Help to defrag the computer

Our laptop has Windows XP Home Edition instaled.

We tried to defrag the laptop with Windows Defrag, Smart Defrag, Auslogics Defrag but no avail.

A lot of files and folders do not defrag.

The laptop has a disk size of 75 GB.

When we try to defrag the local Disk (C)
with any defrag program that I mentioned, the report says: Used Space 57 GB., Free Space 19 GB., Total fragmentation 19%, File fragmentation 39%, Files fragmentation total files 159,000, 181 MB that did not defragment, 124 MB System Volumen Inform. that did not defragment, 70 MB Documents and setting that did not defragment.

Could you help??

Thanks

Those defraggers you listed

Those defraggers you listed cannot defrag system restore points and other system files such as the MFT. You need to try with a commercial grade defragger. Diskeeper 2010 is perhaps the best(I use the slightly older 2009 version) and there are free trial versions available at the Diskeeper website. You can download and defrag with those as they are fully functional for a one month time period.

defrag

I use a program called "defraggler" it's free and downloadable from www.defraggler.com

Never had any problem with it at all. It's worth a try.
