ip conflict

i have a xp pc and a vista pc, the vista is on cable broadband and xp on wireless through same router. when i try get connection on xp i get a message saying another computer on the network as the same ip address, and will not connect.i have tried ipconfig release and renew but to no avail. is there something i am missing?

Check that you have DHCP

Check that you have DHCP enabled on your PCs. If not then you should either enable it or assign different IP addresses to each PC (eg 192.168.0.7 for the Vista and 192.168.0.12 for the XP)
