Do You Suffer From Gamer Rage?
Pop quizz, hotshot: you're battling it out in the closing stages of a Free-For-All in
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The timer is down to the final five seconds. All that seperates you from the top of the leader board is one more kill. And then it happens: the crack of a camper's sniper rifle, the murky screen of death. As you wallow in the misery of defeat -- and your avatar heads off to meet his maker -- you hear an adolescent giggle in your headset. Perhaps the word 'Noob' is uttered. What do you do? What
do you do? If the answer involves swearing, teeth-gnashing and the destruction of personal property, you may be suffering from Gamer Rage.
We've all had victory snatched from our grasp before; sometimes it's so close you can almost taste it. Maybe you're on the final stretch of tarmac in F1, or the last 2 per cent of a boss battle in World of Warcraft... and then, at the last second, you 'wipe' out. It's obviously natural to lose your temper in these situations -- with the exception of corpse-humpers, we're only human after all. But there's a difference between losing your temper and
losing the plot. If you find yourself going into an uncontrollable berserker rage that leaves you red in tooth and claw, it's probably time to reassess your gaming habits. Take our quiz to discover how rage-prone you really are -- the results might surprise you.
