Lachlan, it means that you are always connected to the internet. To turn it off you go to settings, wireless and networks, and then scroll down and it says mobile network. Just turn it off and the 3g symbol will dissappear and then if you want the internet then turn it back on. Hope that helps :)

And my rating is not what I think of this phone!
16
I have had this phone for about 8 months. Such a great phone i love it. Facebook is free if your with telstra, all you got to do is go to the address in browser called 0.facebook.com there you go :)
17
I was wondering if you are able to plug headphones into this phone, it says there is an mp3 player on the phone, but that isn't much use if it can't use headphone. Any info greatly appreciated!!
18
how do i get ringtones into my music file
19
Just purchased this phone and so far I am extremely pleased with it! Considering it was $99 from telstra, it is absolutely amazing! I was quite worried that the touch screen would not work the way that it should and I am pleased to report than in functions fantastically! It was a low cost cell phone so it doesn't have quite as many frills as the HTC androids, and the screen is not as big, but I am perfectly happy with it. I did have to purchase a ringtone rather than use one I downloaded but that's ok! Ringtones aren't a necessity, I just like them ;) The front screen does not have the date on it unless you use the big obnoxious date clock widgit, but like I said before it's great and the price was right!

FACEBOOK is NOT free! The phone requires a data plan!
28
Yes You can use free facebook on this phone, All you have to do is Go onto the pigpond Icon and Type in 0.facebook.com . Also With the picture Messages You Can recieve them As i have Before And they usually take 2-3 minutes to Load on my Samsung Galaxy 5. The only Bit im worried about Is that One of my friends recently locked my phone and i cant get it unlocked...
29
I like the phone but it's not allowing me to send with bluetooth to other company's phone, like Nokia.
And I can't get good headphones for it.
30
everything is great except for the fact where i cant change my ringtone or message tone to a song i already have on here in my music file
31
I had nokia 71 before i had this and I love this phone. It does everything i need and it was cheap. Yeah iphone and galaxy S has better screen but this still looks great for its price. For those complaining about SMS facility just go to android market and get other app for SMS
32
I have had this phone for 5 months and I'm almost ready for a new One. It's good and everything but Lacks in SMS. I don't receive them sometimes and it has it's moments where it won't let me send even though I have service and credit. So I don't know why it does that but Annoying. And I can't read my emails either anymore. Other than that it's works well. Really responsive to touch screen.
33
I dont know much bout this phone but I tried it out in the Telstra store 2day and I really liked it..... i currently have the WORST phone around.... the lg ks360... slide phone.... really bad and would not reccomend it.... but can anyone tell me if the samsung one is one to consider.... or the nokia c3?
34
I cannot write a comment on facebook. What's lacking?
35
Good phone for teen, not too expensive although living in a rural area it cost me $499
36
i owned a samsung star before upgrading to the galaxy 5, and the star was incrediply sturdy, it only ever had a few scratches, but after only owning the Galaxy 5 for 1 and a half weeks, i dropped it and the screen smashed, other than that its excellent.

great phone heaps of value for money and to all those people who say it takes poor quality photos, they have cameras for that.
40
It is a cheap phone which does not provide good SMS facility. Set up for reminders not user friendly and takes too much time in setting up these on calendar.
Contact can not store full double name.
41
My phone is only a day old and this morning it stopped sennding or recieving messages. -.- Has this happened to anyone else?
42
I have a Telstra unlocked phone which I switched from Windows based O2 Atom. For me a mobile should provide facility to make calls, provide contacts in various sort order,reminders/appointments, listening to music, send SMS/MMS, blue tooth connection in car and to equipment other than Samsung brand. Being so used to O2, I find that Galaxy 5 lacks providing contact in a diffent order than name say for instance by Company name. Sending SMS is also not user friendly. Setting an appointment or simple reminder requires too many fields filling. Possibly all these features are restrictions of Android. O2 linked to blue tooth in car easily but tried the same with Samsung- no such luck. Had bought Samsung blue tooth stereo headset which I find links very well and good value for money. Overall not happy at all. I am thining of getting HTC Mozart or a higher model - possibly because pay peanuts and you get a monkey.

I had the Htc wildfire S before this and there is no comparison, the htc owned its ass. Signal always drops out, terrible for multi-tasking and has the worst web browser ever made
