Having had my HTC desire run over by a car, I decided bigger was not better and got the sumsung galaxy Y instead. I find the battery life more than ok as I am happy to charge once a day, and it lasts fine even with regular gmail and Facebook access during the day. The screen is too small to hold the keyboard and what ever you are typing into.. So I switch to my iPad for long emails, but it's ok just for txt or quick one liners..
Not like a full fledged top of the range phone, but great for what it is.

I understood the adverts for the phone showed 600 hours standbye battery life, I get 50 if I am lucky. What a disappointment as I am a very low user and thought I was buying a phone which I could charge once per week. I consider the phone a disaster for that reason, otherwise it is OK.Another thing, my VW car dealer spent 1.5 hours loading the phonebook into bluetooth in the car--tough ask and there is no easy way to resolve this.

I have recently purchased this phone just to fill in whilst I wait for better phones to come out as my previous phone was a Sony X10 which has died on me, and going from a 4" to 3" screen and to a lower resolution is a bit of a shock, but I am dealing with it okay as I can still do what I could do on my X10 in regards to smart phone functionality.
For making phone calls, and stuff like Gmail access. It works fine.
The speed and responsiveness of the phone is great.
It makes a great every day phone for someone who just wants something basic or a starter or a low end smart phone. It has Android 2.3, so a lot of good features as any other Android device. Hotspot tethering, you can wirelessly connect to phone via another computer device and use the Internet.
I have found the internal ear piece speaker loud and clear (louder then my X10) and the loud speaker is pretty good too.
As said in the review, it's the size of the screen and the size of the keyboard that let's it down.
Definitely if you don't want to be lugging around a largish 4" screen sized phone, and for the price. This phone is to be considered.

A samsung phone that consistantly cannot find its network and i thought my old LG was crap! Nope this samsung is far less compatible if required to be used as a phone!
