After I purchased the Sierra Ultimate Wi Fi Modem from Telstra I noticed how hot it ran.
On my office desk on a typical Brisbane day, the modem had a single sheet of paper over it. It shut down, with hte message, "Temperature Critical".
If you had it in your pocket, I am sure it would eventuall overheat. I would suggest you put it on the table beside you, rather than in your pocket.

Hey mate,
I have now written two reviews of the Sierra Wireless Modem and you have printed neither. One was when I had first bought it, and the next after about two months. Weren't they favfourable enough for you?
The first review was highlighting its possible weakness - oveheating.
The second ws confirming that.

Greg,
have you checked your router?
I had the same problem when I forst installed mine. A friend with one of the very latest tablets could detecty computer when the modem was online, but I could not connect my computer to the internet. Once I sorted out the Router, it worked OK. For the record, I use a TP-LINK TL-WN721N Router, Purchased from the Telstra Shop where I bought my Sierra Modem.
By the way - the overheating does not occur in aircon. On a hot Brissie day, everything overheats, including me. I have now had the Sierra Modem for more than a year, and it is still going OK.
Regards......Ralph.
