Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ1 camera

I love my tiny Canon SD780 (makes this Panasonic look rather large). But the lens is 4:1, and I wanted both wider angle as well as telephoto views. This one provides both at a third to a quarter of the price Amazon is now getting for the SD780. I wish it had an all-auto button that enables the photographer to simply shoot, disregarding all settings (the Canon has such a button). But it's simple enough and intuitive. (Panasonic provides a 125 pp. instruction manual--on CD. I sort of resent having to use that much paper and ink to have an instruction manual). What "sold" me on this camera was "Consumer Reports" most recent camera rankings. This was by far the most fully featured, least expensive camera among their top 8 sub-compact cameras. And the actual price (from Amazon) was under $120 w postage--considerably less than the price listed by CR. I was impressed with the photos and movies I captured with it this summer on a Washington D.C. trip. I haven't had a chance to compare them side by side with some shots from my Canon. (It would be 4 and a half stars with a hard-copy instruction manual.) I should add that being able to charge the battery while it's in the camera is a rare convenience after losing the external charger for the Canon.
