A very attractive and well-priced notebook that's a little underdone

Video problems, Runs hot

I have had problems with the video display since I purchased this laptop six months ago. I'll be working away and I'll get this message:

Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver ATI Radeon family stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

The problem is, it never does recover. The screen gets little discolored squares all over it and the computer locks up and I have to manually shut it down and reboot it.

I updated the drivers twice, took it back to the shop where I purchased it and had them run a full diagnostic (they found nothing wrong), had them replace the fan (since it runs so hot) and they also replaced the mother board. When I got it home I had the same problem so I took it back and they reloaded Windows thinking it may have been a software problem.

Took it home after the second service and the problem started again 20 minutes after I booted it up. I guess I'll have them replace the video card and see if that helps.

Other than the persistent video display problem, running very hot, and the small screen It's been an adequate unit. If I had to do it again I would seriously consider another brand.

For work use, Microsoft Word and Excel programs pre-installed on the device are adequate for preparing short documents.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
