Brittle, cheap device, screen shatters ever so easily, customer service
• • •

This device should contain a warning "put down softly"! I watched my son drop the device ever so softly from a low height whilst in a leather protective case only to see the screen shatter in the top left corner. Certainly no Gorilla glass used here. The device is so sensitive, I guess that is what you get for a cheap product made by Asus - don't be fooled by the google name! I tried calling google to ask about repair only to be passed onto Asus who then made it extremely difficult to speak to anyone. Once I finally got through to a representative I was summarily told that a shattered screen is not under warranty - what a surprise. The repair cost is about the same as buying the device plus postage which I must pay because they have no store front. A shocking experience all round. I buy the product and get charged $20 postage to send in metropolitan Melbourne, the device shatters with the greatest of ease, it is hard to find how it might be repaired, then it is totally uneconomic to repair and you have to pay for postage! Wow. Stick with Apple, the products and service are a long term investment rather than a short term cost like this Asus google product. Hope this helps someone else avoid a problem.

Waited months to buy one of these only to find out that they want to rip us off. They have anoyed me to the point I am migrating my Email to zoho.com and am doing 99% of my searches on duckduckgo. I have a HTC android phone and have to maintain a google account for that, however I will be taking a good look at a Windows phone, if they ever get it running properly, or wait for a phone running on Tizen. good bye google.

Pros
Good speed, smooth, looks awesome
Cons
Buttons hard to reach, No external memory
• • •

I love the device but for eBook reading (as a left hander) it is not pefect, the buttons are around the back which makes them a tad hard to reach and use for turning pages.
The bonus credit is also cool for apps where a specific tabled version needs to be purchased

Build quality

". . . but its build quality compares to rival and in most cases, inferior, tablets that retail for well over $500." There is ample evidence arising of exactly the opposite. On the first day of its release, blog sites began to fill with comments about the poor quality of the screen builds and associated problems. In short, you get what you pay for. Buy cheap, get cheap.

I have been using 10 inch TPT, and I really found 10inch is too big for playing. I would definitely buy this one if someone would take my TPT, and HTC don't have a new flyer.

Android 4.1, good battery life
Cons
No memory card slot

I was all set to buy this as I heard it was based on the Asus MeMO 370T shown at CES last year, but lack of a memory card slot kills the deal for me. Looks like Google took a page from Amazon unwisely. Sure hope Asus still releases the 370T.

I will definitely buy the Google Nexus table if the price starts at $199. I use Acer a500 tablet at work, but it is too big and heavy. With that good price, Google Nexus table is a sweet deal to people like me who can't afford an iPad.

STYLISTIC Q702

First impression on unpacking the Q702 test unit was the solid feel and clean, minimalist styling.

For work use, Microsoft Word and Excel programs pre-installed on the device are adequate for preparing short documents.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

Simon Harriott

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
