Nokia 5730 XpressMusic mobile phone

The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is a mobile phone with GPS and great multimedia features
Review by Imogen Stuart (Good Gear Guide) 18/08/2009 11:20:00

Nokia's 5730 XpressMusic is the latest addition to the company's music range of mobile phones. Featuring all the perks of a modern handset, including Internet access, a Facebook application, Google Maps, GPS, instant messaging, 3G connectivity, and a 3.2-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, the 5730 XpressMusic is clearly a winner.

The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic has a funky design, with glossy black and red casing. The phone has a standard keypad and navigation wheel, with shuffle buttons along the side for skipping, stopping and playing music.

The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic's form factor is the classic candy bar, but the phone also slides sideways to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. Although buttons are spaced apart and illuminated well, the keys' texture makes them difficult to feel. In addition, your thumb gets a tad cramped when using the keyboard.

Nokia has long been known for making simple-to-use and sturdy phones and the 5730 XpressMusic is a good example.

A pair of noise-cancelling ear buds is included in the sales package, and their sound is crisp and clear. Thankfully, the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic has a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, so you have the option of using any set of headphones you like. Continuing the music theme is the inclusion of an FM radio; reception is clear and navigation between stations is straightforward.

Nokia has packed plenty of features into the 5730XpressMusic without compromising size or performance. AccuWeather.com, RealPlayer, GPS, podcasting, access to Nokia's music store, a voice recorder and a Facebook application are all included.

Audio on the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic when making and receiving calls is clear and volume can be adjusted with the side-mounted controls.

Battery life is impressive considering the number of features crammed into the phone. Overall, the 5730 is a great addition to the XpressMusic mobile phone range. Anyone who likes their music and phone bundled together should take a look at it.
