I bought this without reading the reviews. HUGE mistake. What a piece of junk. 60 bucks down the drain. Wow I learned my lesson. Read reviews next time before buying. Don't waste your time.

Great when it was working

I've had the device for a few months. Thought it was the solution to all. Ugh!
Now it doesn't work. I've updated drivers, reset the adapter, updated firmware, turned off the device by unplugging for the designated amount of time, turned off firewall, rebooted PC multiple times, Hit the scan to adapter multiple times. No solution. The adapter can not be located by the PC. Such a shame. I loved it when it worked. Somehow there was something flimsy about this product when I bought it and I was surprised when it worked the first time. So ... perhaps the theory behind BLINK was warning me. Hmm. Also, another aggravation is the extreme lack of support from Netgear or Intel. Here is the dead-end contact information they offered.

Pros
the rare chance it actually connects, it works great
Cons
it sits and doesnt connect 95% of the time.
• • •

This product will take you MULTIPLE tries to connect, and on the off chance you get it working, it will not stay connected. I had checked on Netgear's forums about this, and this is a VERY common problem, and netgear does not respond to any questions nor offer any sort of solution. Please dont waste your time or money, and if you do end up getting duped into buying it, dont expect anything from netgear. you're on your own.

Pros
Looks nice, not too expensive
Cons
Doesn't work

Despite my Toshiba R705 claiming to have WiDi capability, I cannot get this device to work. Sure, it plugs into the tv/spare monitor, and the laptop sees it, and tries to connect, but fails every time.
Updating the Intel driver for the laptop failed, and now my laptop wireless drivers are dead. Shame, I was looking forward to using this product, but I guess I'll pack it back in the box and put it back onto fleabay where it came from... and see if I can get the laptop back to working condition again. Shame, it looked like a promising technology.

Nice idea if it worked. Updated drivers, updated software, addressed fire wall issues and it never connects.

Save your money. I am not a novice when it comes to computer issues. One of the reasons Apple is gaing such market shart is the hardware and software works as advertised.

Microsoft and netgear do not.
