I just bought this just last week. And I regret it. I love recording and making collection of my favourite TV & broadband shows/programs especially the news and documentaries but I hate the commercials. Using my old Pioneer HDD/DVD recorder DVR-560H (Sadly Pioneer company stopped producing this line of products), it's so easy to access and use its editing function. Removing the commercials is a breeze. But editing in this DMR-BW880 of Panasonic? It's terribly annoying. Another problem: while it's set on a local news channel and I tried to switch the TV in an AV mode to watch a broadband show I heared the sound of the news program! If you care not to lose your hair don't buy this.

This machine is terribly slow to response. I have owned a Pioneer DVD recorder for 6 years and it worked brilliantly. They I decided to join the HD world since freeview became HD. I thought I should get the BR version of this recoder and I did. The machine is fairly complicated and not intuitive to operate. The main problem with it is that it is tooooooo sloooooooooooooooooooow to operate. It takes almost 25 sec to turn on and let you use the remote to do anything. I couldn't see any difference between the quality of the BR and the normal DVD, so paying this extra premium for BR was a waste of money.
