Panasonic SC-BTT775 3D home theatre system
Panasonic SC-BTT775 review: This home theatre system supports 3D Blu-ray movies and has wireless speakers
The Panasonic SC-BTT775 is a $1099 home theatre with 5.1 surround sound. 3D Blu-ray playback and wireless rear speakers make it an attractive companion to a 3D television like the Samsung Series 7 (UA55C7000) or Panasonic VIERA TH-P50VT20A. We thought the sound wasn't good at maximum volume levels, but unless you're in a large room and want very loud music it will do an acceptable job.
Pros
- Good sound quality at moderate volume levels, 3D Blu-ray playback
Cons
- Complicated setup procedure, poor bass response at high volume levels, wireless connectivity is optional
Bottom Line
The Panasonic SC-BTT775 is a convenient solution that bundles a 3D Blu-ray player with a 5.1-channel home theatre system. It's got wireless rear speakers, and despite an awkward setup procedure it is a good choice for anyone after a relatively cheap boost to their television's sound.

Panasonic SC-BTT775: Design, setup and features
The Panasonic SC-BTT775 looks like any other home-theatre-in-a-box from Panasonic — if you've seen one, you've seen them all. Just like the Panasonic SC-PT875W and the Panasonic SC-BT105W, the SC-BTT775 has two floorstanding front speakers, a centre speaker and two wireless rear speakers that communicate with the system's receiver via an external transmitter.
An optional wireless LAN connector lets the Panasonic SC-BTT775 connect to your home network to access DLNA media shares and online Viera Cast content. We would have been happier if this had been built in to the receiver itself to save the price of purchasing an additional component.
The system is easy to set up, but takes quite some time — putting the speakers together and plugging every component in took us around half an hour. We connected the Panasonic SC-BTT775 to a Sharp LC52LE820X LED television and a Samsung Series 7 (PS50C7000) LED television and ran through a couple of 2D and 3D movies to test the system's sound quality and video abilities.
Panasonic SC-BTT775: Sound quality, video playback and volume levels
With a power rating of 1000W RMS the Panasonic SC-BTT775 is loud enough to handle any medium-sized living space. In a large room — we're talking larger than 8x8m, by the way — it begins to run out of puff at higher volume levels but is otherwise competent.
In our 3x6m test room the Panasonic SC-BTT775 was more than capable of delivering Blu-ray movie audio at loud volume levels. At moderate volume, the SC-BTT775 was strong and forward in its audio reproduction, with punchy bass notes and clear treble that made dialogue easy to listen to. For listening to music or watching movies in a small or medium-sized living environment, the Panasonic SC-BTT775 would be a good choice — it's easily equal to other home theatre systems in this price range like the LG.
After we realised the volume to its maximum level, the system was definitely too loud for regular listening; we did detect bloating of bass and treble distortion, however. This is a minor consideration, but if you plan to be running it at full power — in an environment that can support it like a large living room — it doesn't sound as good as a more expensive, ‘proper' home theatre system.
We didn't have any problem playing back any of the video content we loaded the Panasonic SC-BTT775 up with. The 3D Blu-ray version of Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and the 2D The Dark Knight and Terminator: Salvation all loaded up quickly and played at 1080p without any visible problems. DVD-quality DLNA video content also streamed flawlessly.
Panasonic SC-BTT775: Conclusion
The Panasonic SC-BTT775 is a competent home theatre system that's not particularly expensive. Unless you're in an especially large room it should do a perfectly acceptable job.
