We bought the WD Media streamer and it freezes all the time, when we don't use it for a few days it just does not switch on, we have to keep switching the power on and off then suddenly it decides to work, we have no confidence in this device any help would be appreciated

It does not connect to any network. It doesn't even SEE any wireless networks. ANY. Useless... Completely useless.

IF THIS PRODUCT WORKED LIKE IT IS MEANT TO IT WOULD BE A GREAT PLAYER! But it simply did not work for me after one week! Freezes all the time for no apparent cause! I have reset it several times. Not a chance! I have given it time to read files BUT no! Maybe I got a lemon!
I am taking it back - had my hopes high!

When people release Youtube videos on setting up the Windows network, and have comments like "It took me 3 days to figure this out" you know you've got problems. Sure enough, the WDTV Live Streaming Media Player flat out refused to see my shared folders. Folders readily accessed by laptops, Raspberry Pis, etc...
By the time I reached the User Forums talking about Browser contention, and editing my REGISTRY settings (and even that didn't fix it!) I knew it was time to return the item for a full refund.
If you have Linux NFS shares, or all your movies are on external USB drives, or you ONLY want to watch Internet based media like Youtube, this product might be "good enough".
For anyone else - enter at your own risk. Here there be dragons.
