I bought it about 1 yr ago, I thought that I treat it badly till I read here the problems users have,

yes that's right,it's noisy, fan is always on with no occasion, the battery is weak. my one lasts for less than 1 hr with no vedio.and it's heavy(2.6 kg is heavey compared with other PC's)

I read alot about this PC in many forums, It causes alot of problems,

It doesn't work with win XP unless you change SATA sittings, and if you do, there are no drivers for win XP in dell site.people who need these drivers try to see (www.mushahed.net)

with all of that believe me friends, I love it very much.

People, your complaints about the overheating/fan issues can be solved if you just clean the vents on your laptop and stop using your computer in a dusty smoke filled room. Clean the vents and your problems will go away. CLEAN THE VENTS !!!

HORRIBLE.
I do not recommend this laptop whatsoever. The volume buttons decide when they want and don't want to work, it overheats like CRAZY! It overheats so much, at one stage it turned off by itself 6 times within 30 minutes. The battery life is crap, it never lasts longer than 2 hours and that's pushing it.The keypad heats up so, so much it actually feels like it's burning your fingers.
Everything about this laptop is crap, probably the worst decision I made buying this, mind you, I only purchased it about 14 months ago.
Do yourself a favour, DO NOT purchase this laptop!

Its been a year now and its as good as a box... the battery life is NOT 7 hours... its 30 minutes MAX!!! And this happened 3 months after i purchased it.

It claims not to recognize my charger!!!
It heats up like its on fire!!! and switches off!
And yes.. Weird noises like there are rats running inside...

i bought this laptop 18 months back . i used to play games like fifa on it....nw i am facing a huge problem with the heating issues..laptop jst shuts down all of a sudden , without giving warning tat battery is low...i bought a logitech cooling pad , bt still no use...even gave the laptop to dell for servicing bt still no change.....nw i mite need to change the motherboard also soon , as tld to me by DELL........plz do not buy this laptop..not worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought one running the same setup as abbey above, however after 5 months of reasonable usage and demands (used only 50Gb and played Rome Total war - a 2004 game!!!) it kept crashing playing the game and now I find the HD has failed and won't load anything. My first Dell and whilst moderately pleased with it for the money it does make you wonder if some of the components they used were cheaper to offset the good price....it's going back tomorrow!

The laptop for me had much better build quality for the specs that any of the competitors I was looking at, and overall I am very pleased with it, however I have had some issues, the hdd was faulty and after e-mailing dell support (within warranty) and dropping it off it was replaced by the next day even though I was warned it could take up to 2 weeks.

The laptop has always been overheating, this isn't really Dells fault as I use the laptop a lot for gaming and this is always a bad idea for laptops as to many components are crammed into such a small space that it will overheat. Dell support e-mailed me a BIOS update that turns the fan on more, this however appeared incompatible and soon windows explorer started crashing and Dell offered to send a technician to my house to fix it for free. (Bear in mind that my warranty only covers a remote diagnosis and drop off repair.)

Now don't think there is anything bad about these laptops, my friend has one and he has never had a problem, I was simply unlucky with mine and have had a good experience with Dell Support and will continue to shop Dell laptops in the future.

My husband bought me the Dell Ispiron N5040 the day after this Christmas and the Hard drive is toast! What a piece of junk! I thought Dell was a good computer ! The support people are unbelievable , not in a good way either. I would never ever recommend this or any Dell to anyone anymore. yes it gets hot and its creaky.

So I've had an N5010 for just over a year now. I'm not sure what to say... The CPU performance is good etc. but the graphics card is awful! I try playing Need For Speed Shift & it lags like hell! But it gets worse... I've had to replace my hard drive because there was system repair fault (not anything to do with viruses, I'm very careful with them) & then my screen broke by just lifting it up from one corner! Then when I replaced it (£160!) half the screen has a fault in it! I'm never going with dell again. The performance is good but the build quality is absolute rubbish!

What kind of Laptop this is ? for which you struggle to get the proper driver? in the age of Internet and so advanced technoligy you can not find Wi fi driver for this?

This is my last laptop I bought from Dell...I hate this laptop for which I paid my hard earned money.

Even Terrible is not suitable for this laptop ..it is more thsan terrible.

I would love to break this laptop in 1000 pieces.....what you will get just by having a good look only.....MORE THAN TERRIBLE LAPTOP....Please....no one should by Dell Laptops...Please

Touchpad is centered with keyboard, not entire laptop. Not sure if I like it or it.

Again, this keyboard is impossible to type on, as the keys are too short! Aargh!

i bought Dell inspiron N5010. on 27 sept 2011. it have problem with its graphic. they give me 1620mb inbuilt graphic card, in place of ATI one GB graphic card.system working two slow. it is toooo slow he really disappoint me every time. its camera quality is zero.

I am using this laptopn since last 1 year. My warranty period ended in the last period and now facing the problem of RAM failure.
There are 2 slots having 1gb and 2gb ram.
1gb ram is working in both slots but when i tried to insert 2gb ram, the laptop fails to boot.
i can hear a 4-beep sound with blank display.
what should be the reason behind this problem and please provide me the solution.

I purchased 2 N5010s less then 1 yr ago. In that short time I've already had to have my hard drive replaced twice on one of the systems and on the other, the psu, motherboard and hard drive all replaced. This is the last time I purchase Dell. Obviously they have problems with hardware quality with their assembly and subtier suppliers.

bought the lappy about a mnth back wid the following specs:

i just got this N5010

with core i3 2.53 GHz

4 GB ram

5000 GB HDD

Display adapter : ATI 1024 MB dedicated model ( hd 5470 )

the laptop is working great...the processor is fast and hasnt given me even a minor glitch till now. lets hope it remains the same.
the looks are decent but the resolution is a turn off.
the placement of the touch pad is a lil off and i keep touchin it and placin my cursor all over the place.
the turn around of the function keys takes a lil getting used to but its not making me curse the lappy. would have preferred atleast 4 usb ports but i guess these days its the norm to jus give three.
for 38500 its a great buy though.

Stu, since the N5010 comes with Windows 7 Home Premium, maybe you'll be able to use the Mobility Center to switch the F# and Fn keys functions. Hit Windows key + X. My N5010 has a section for this on the Mobility Center set by Dell itself.

My version came with Intel HD graphics which works fine for some games but is terrible for the Sims 3. It crashes every time I play that game. I would not recommend this computer to anyone.

i got this computer in january with an i3 m370 6gbs of ram, a 500gb hdd, and a ati radeon mobility 550v.
the gaming is spectacular i can play bad company 2 on max, portal 2 on max , and just about every other game.
I LOVE THIS COMPUTER...
but even when im not gaming the battery only lasts 2 hrs

im using n5010 equip with i3-380m,4gb ram,500gb hard disc,1gb dedicated ati hd5650. Been using for vid and photo editing and some games.having no problem at all. check your laptop specs before commenting on game/software performance. n5010 comes with different specs.if you buy model that come with shared memory graphic card,dont expect it to perform well on gaming.and its normal for a production batch to have some defect product.even famous apple has the same problem.as long as your laptop under warranty, u dont have to worry about this problem. highly recommended for cheap,high spec laptop.

I bought a Dell inspiron N5010, my opinion its an amazing & marvelous machine.i bought this machine three days before,i dont have any issue of it becomming v v very hot, hanging, keyboard problems,noises,graphics problem. from the day i bought it, i did not switched off thIS machine, it just working perfectly and countinusely.

I dont know why people are spitting and pulling their hair off for buying this great machine, its the matter they dont know how to use it.

I love my Dell 15R N5010 Laptop... but what hinders me is its battery life.... i am on my lappy 8 hrs in a day and i have to keep it for charging at regular intervals.... the battery life is not good for a long hour user like me... it would have been better if the battery life would be atleast 4 - 6 hrs. i hope Dell improves on it!

Very bad experience.
BEWARE if you are installing windows XP. its a pain to get drivers. Search for quickset drivers (screen brightness control) I havent got this for 1 month.

Atleast

Other less interesting features, no caps lock nums lock LED's , no hardware controls for volume coltrol.
No mechanical lock to hold the screen unit with the base unit.

I love my computer it hasn't given me any problems and I am thankful. I don't know what you guys are talking about with the battery and the fan issues maybe you need to take them back. No matter what computer you buy there is apt to be problems no matter what. So be happy with what you got.

Purchased without OS and Now I struggled for drivers for windows XP. Piece of crap doesnt have drivers / utils for XP / 32 Bit.
No Caps lock , nums lock LED's
The Lid doesnt have a lock to hold in place.
No Hard keys for multimedia etc

i have 15r dell N5010 350M 2.27 . every thing works good No heating problem no noise of fan and battery idle time is 4Hour 11 minutes and for video time is about 3 hours 10 minutes .

I got the dell inspiron 15R N5010, the only problem i'm facing is that it doent detect my wired network for the first time, all i need to start the system and after that its working fine, CAN ANY BODY HELP ON THIS ISSUE....

I bought one last year and have been regretting every moment ever since… first the hard drive failed, then the RAM and now the battery, which gives you 2hrs in idle mode at best, suddenly developed problems with holding charge… Thankfully all this happened when the thing was under warranty so besides the emotional aggravation and several missed deadlines, didn’t have to worry about much…
Strongly advise against buying this….

i purchased n5010 on 26 December, after some weeks i got problem in left speaker, create too much noise, after some days the right speaker same problem. i can not here sound on its internal speakers.

I have nothing but good things about this system. It does have a glare problem, so stay out of the sunlight. I put some old ext. speakers on and sounds great. No fan noise on mine and plays any game i have put in it. Very fast w/4G ram, 640G hdd,only thing how much ram will the I5 2.4G system handle?

it is an amazing machine with good features. I have a i5,4gb,500gbhdd amd 1gb dedicated ati model named n5010. My friend has a xps15 same config. my inspiron is good in all areas when compared to an xps except in audio clearity that too meagre diff. so xps sucksssss.

my fan buzz at temp of 40c. i want to know the default temp at where the fans starts to spin. in mine it spins for no reason for a minute or so.

I don't know what you guys talking about, fan noise?
I can't hear anything. Most of the complaints are such a minor one for such a cool product.

It's well made and good quality, works like a champ and I love it. First Dell I ever bough. The reason was that HP, Sony, Toshiba keboard suck big time. The keyboard on the dell is perfect for touch typing and feels just right. That's the only reason I bought a Dell.

It is a pleasant surprise to see how well this baby is put together. I think people are overly critial and spitting hair on INSIGNIFICANT matters.

If you have a bad computer or don't function, take it back. Am getting two more of these this year. For the money, you can't go wrong.

i surfed net for hours just to find that many ppl are having the same problem with different os.
