Brother MFC-9840CDW colour laser multifunction

Brother's top-of-the-range colour laser multifunction printer has plenty of features, but it has an awkward control scheme

  • Pros
    Machine Cost
  • Cons
    Cost per copy

This machine is huge, and still works well, (after six months only). Cost per copy is expensive, especially on drum replacement.

  • Pros
Duplex combined with multi-page / side is nice for printing e.g. User Guides
  • Cons
    Poor color reproduction

Factory-rebuilt MFC-9840CDW:
- An 8.5x11 document scan (e.g. 400 dpi 24-bit color) comes out fine, but there is a marked shift towards blue upon printing the image (pink actually ends up blue).
- Printing a smallist picture that kooks fine on the screen comes out streaked upon printing.
- Prior to buying, I failed to check the delay for printing the first page (from power saving mode) - this printer is slow on "startups" (about 15 sec)
...I do not recommend this machine...
