muvee Reveal 8
muvee Reveal 8 utilises nVidia CUDA optimisation for quick rendering
We've never seen video-editing software so easy to use. muvee Reveal 8 is not cheap, nor is it full-featured, but if you need to quickly make and share a slick-looking clip, look no further.
Pros
- Easy to use
Cons
- Relatively expensive
Bottom Line
Whether muvee Reveal 8 is astonishingly easy to use or horribly limited depends on your needs and experience. If you want to get smart-looking clips edited and online with the minimum of fuss, it’s an excellent program. But $130 is a lot to spend on a 'fun' application, and video-editing hobbyists should look elsewhere.

muvee Reveal 8 makes video editing a three-step process. Import clips and images, choose a style, add music. That's it. Click Play and your project's good to go.
Import is straightforward. Grab clips and pics from your PC or an attached camera. Most formats are supported by muvee Reveal 8, with the exception of Flash: AVCHD, wmv, mov, mpeg4 and h.264. You can use jpeg, png, gif, bmp and tiff images, and wmv, wmv-hd, mov and mpeg4 audio.
Previews of media are displayed in a pane at the top. Also present are a style selector, music editor and preview player. If the order of clips doesn't matter to you, hit play and you'll have a surprisingly professional-looking project. This works well for recording a night out or a holiday, particularly with the right music.
If you wish you can set the order of clips and photos, and record a voiceover. muvee Reveal 8 lets you type in credits, and add a watermark. Simple editing is possible via right-clicking individual media, and you can set the duration of a photo's appearance, as well as trimming audio clips.
That's all the control you get with muvee Reveal 8, however, so the style is important. There are 10 basic Styles, ranging from 'Cube Twist' through 'Pump It Up!' to 'Ultra Plain'. Leaving the cheesy names aside, there is a pithy explanation for each.
muvee Reveal 8 utilises nVidia CUDA optimisation for quick rendering, and can export in HD. It's really aimed at the Flip generation, however, so simple export to Facebook and YouTube is a big plus. You can also save for iPod and PlayStation Portable, as well as traditional DVD output.
