Pros
Stunning picture quality. Beautifully designed and built. Very efficient electricity use. It's a Sony :)
Cons
Remote not as well built as my older Sony XBR. No dedicated cable tidy on the back like my older Sony XBR. No illuminated logo like on the older XBR.

After 6 odd years the digital tuner component of my Sony KDL46XBR stopped working; so it was either get it fixed, buy a set top box or buy a new tv. By chance Sony were having an Easter sale and I picked up the KDL55HX850 with the optional speaker stand, 3D glasses and a bluray pack for just $1880.00.

At first I was worried that the HX850 would not be able to deliver as good a picture as the highly regarded XBR but i needn't have worried. The HX850 comfortably outshines the older XBR in virtually every way and apart from a few niggling issues ( the remote feels a little cheap and has no backlighting, the cable tidy is just a reused piece off the power cord, no lovely illuminated SONY logo on the front of the tv) you can clearly see what 6 years of technological development has achieved.

The picture is very good straight out of the box, but after getting some calibration settings off CNet and Home Theatre and then applying them the image really started to pop. It's as good as anything I have ever seen irrespective of price.

So to conclude; I couldn't be more happy with the KDL55HX850. It's a very worthy replacement for my XBR and continues Sony's trend of offering beautifully designed and well built televisions that also have the technology and picture quality to back up their ascetic good looks.

STYLISTIC Q702

First impression on unpacking the Q702 test unit was the solid feel and clean, minimalist styling.

For work use, Microsoft Word and Excel programs pre-installed on the device are adequate for preparing short documents.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
