    The Sun

    Pluto

I love how people have a single bad experience with a random sales person or technician, and thereby use it as their sole ammo to discredit in their own mind, an entire multi-national company.

  • Pros
    Everything!
  • Cons
    Having to buy it overseas

I imported the Galaxy Tab via a shop on eBay. All my Facebook games worked perfectly, and it really struck me that "there's an app for that" is Apple's attempt to whitewash the trut that their operating system is proprietary so you have to go out of your way to get things to work. No wonder Apple's running scared.

  • Pros
Amazingly thin & lightweight, fantastic screen, Touchwiz enhances the Honeycombe experience
  • Cons
lack of SD card slot & hdmi port

Picked this up in UK duty free last week, and the only word to describe this product is AMAZING - no wonder Apple are cr@pping themselves, as this device is better in EVERY way over the iPad2 except for the dedicated apps.

Why is it better - here's my experience:

- Extra screen resolution makes for great browsing
- 16:10 aspect ratio much better suited to tablets, makes viewing videos in landscape and reading content in portrait a much better experience
- While honeycomb is still maturing, what it offers out of the box is great; really nice widgets, great multi-tasking, live wallpapers etc
- Touchwiz enhances honeycomb further with extra widgets, a more polished skin, and the excellent one-touch notification pull-up
- Soooooo incredibly lightweight!

If you like apples stuff then of course you'll get an iPad as its a fine product, but the Samsung is a game changer for android tablets.

  • Pros
    Swype, size, performance
  • Cons
    No Allshare app yet

I've had the 32 Gb wifi version for 2 weeks now (shhh don't tell Apple) and it's fantastic. Super fast, super light and super easy to use. Very glad I didn't get impatient and buy a fruit.

  • Pros
    Not made by Apple.
  • Cons
Apple bullying it out of our market.

Screw Apple! This is how they use their clout to respond to market innovation? I want this tablet. I am waiting for this to be released and all Apple's playground bullying has achieved is that I will never buy one scrap more that has an apple logo on the front. If it werent for that lawsuit I probably would have never known about it.

  • Pros
    screen
  • Cons
    no extra memory slot/usb

Ross, you can hardly call this the only real alternative to the ipad with so many notable omissions. To be fair, it looks beautiful and those buggers at apple have given it the kind of publicity that money cannot buy.
Readers should look to other awesome devices as well such as the Asus transformer. I bought one a month ago and it's great-expandible memory slots, HDMI, great keyboard and phenomenal battery life.
I hope Samsung sell a truckload of these but it is not the only good device that is out there at the moment
