Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v Android tablet
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v review: The Galaxy Tab 10.1v is a credible alternative to the iPad 2, but it lacks the polished feel of Apple's tablet.

Yes, I agree the Samsung tablet is a good product with some excellent features. However, its not all about the features.
I recently bought a Samsung tablet 10.1, and yes it had to happen the screen cracked :-(. I called up Samsung and they passed me on to two companies whom they outsource repairs. I called up the first company (Granville NSW) and no one is picked up the phone. After 8 attempts I gave up, the other company quoted $300 to $400 repair a cracked screen.
Samsung customer Service support showed little interest in helping me. Based on my experience ...buy an Ipad.

I used an iPad2 for 3 weeks. Hated apple's arbitrary limitations and the interface of some apps. Cameras were quite poor. Interface uncustomisable. Lack of multitasking is very frustrating (can't download more than one thing at a time, etc.). The thing won't even allow downloads of anything larger than 20mb over 3G (search that for yourself, another apple imposed limitation). Copying a simple word document or PDF to the device is made ridiculously difficult by apple!
I have now played with the Tab 10.1v for 3 days now. Wow! Plug it into any PC and it appears as an extra drive (can just copy and paste files all the way!). It comes with some awesome apps including quickoffice which allows you to open/edit/create word, excel and powerpoint files! Widgets are essential for any tablet device and the iPad2 seems really old fashioned compared to honeycomb. The voda network seems to be performing quite well for me so far (first experience on voda).
Highlights:
- Youtube widget, calendar widget, IMDB widget, I know I'm forgetting some as my wife has taken my galaxy away and I'm going from memory :(
- web-browsing craps all over iPad2 (it has tabs, flash and just works really well!)
- well written android apps works a treat
- ease of file transfer
- Excellent cameras
- Better "holdability" than iPad2 (especially in landscape mode)
- Sound quality craps all over iPad2 (Stereo surround dual speakers)
- Multitasking
- I could go on and on, but basically honeycomb rocks!
Downsides:
- google need to put more effort on their app store. They could for example label TABLET approved apps to avoid the user having to dig out the quality ones.
- Lack of accessories at this early stage.
- No sd memory card? Why? I'm not likely to need more than 16Gb, but this will annoy some.
- Why doesn't it have mobile phone functionality out of the box? (there's a hack to get this to work apparently) again, not something I'll need, but it doesn't make sense to me.

- ConsTakes an age to download & install apps! Memory not expandable!
Some apps like flash player 10.2 won't install after downloading while others just don't open! Advertised as being able to make video calls! Not able to make any calls at all!

I've used iPad and iPad2, but when I saw a demo of the Android software and Galaxy Tab 10.1v on youtube, it blew my mind away.
Goodbye iPads...Hello Galaxy!

iPad is a blow up of iPhone.
I have an iPhone, so no need for iPad (which is not a TRUE tablet).
Galaxy Tab 10.1V...finally a REAL tablet that will suite all my needs! Less than a week before I get mine!

I have had it with Apple devices. After upgrading to the iPad2 and having it break within a week and have to be sent off to be repaired (same happened with my iPad1), I will never buy another Apple product.
I had a chance to play with the 10.1v at Circular Quay in Sydney and was well impressed. Have orderd and cant wait to get my hands on it.
Anyone want to buy a cheap iPad2? :)

The HT 10.1v is HDMI capable via a dock or cable - as was the original GT 7"

So the ipad2 screen better or the samsung 10.1v? As the vodafone wont have any real 10.1v display in the store.

Works good for me. I got the usb adapter and now I can connect and external hard drive (fat32) or and usb memory so in total I have more than 500GB if I want to. HDMI requieres adapter. I can download directly to the samsung and I don't need the pc at all for updates. so far very please with the purchase
