Had the luxury to have both the Samsung series 8 led and the HX820 at home to compare,the Sony a better performer overall

    New menu system takes some getting used to

The HX820 series does have a form of local dimming, the followings is Sony's desciption of the Dymanic baclighting.

The Dynamic Edge LED system divides the screen into regions, each of which can be dimmed independently
