Having recently arrived in Australia we attempted to get Internet access. Unfortunately it was like being back in the 90's with regards price speed and credit history requirements! Vodafone offered a guaranteed service with mobile broadband, so we got this wifi unit. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!! It started with a quite promising full signal and HSPA. But that didn't seem to matter as apart from the slowest Internet I have ever experienced, it was completely unusable for Skype/FaceTime, the primary reason for getting it! After three weeks of 'diagnostics' It wasn't any better and I returned the futuristic paperweight! We then got the Telstra elite, it's amazing! And if you buy it out right the use per paid its much cheaper than any Vodafone contract and there's no risk of going over the limit!

I was assured this would work well but it is rubbish. It does not work at all. I am tired of dealing with vodafone and paying for products that do not work. I live in suburban sydney and not the outback. I have taken the computer and device to a computer tech head friend and he said it just will not provide any useful connectivity. This product cost $80 and does not work. I can not understand how telcos can sell products that are so misleading that it borders on fraudulent. Do not buy this. Do not believe it will work. It won't .

Awesome device.

Sorry Curt but it must be you or where you live my friend.

We have replaced our massively expensive Telstra everything with this tiny device and the 2 mobile handsets we already had and now we have huge flexibility, reduced our spend by $40 a month AND my wifi travels out of the apartment. I operate my business from home (and now the local cafe) and I just love this device.

As I walk out the door, I grab it and my laptop. As expected, I am only off the air for 2-3 minutes while I travel in the lift.

If the battery lasted 8-10 hours that would be a step up but I can't complain.

I live in Sydney near the CBD.
My connection speed with this device ranges from
150 to <1KBps when tested using testmy.net and also in the devices settings.
Mostly i dont get more than 11KBps.
After contacting vodafone and being transferred 7 times I was told they would test my device and get back to me.
when they got back to me they said they couldnt find any issues so.... tough. i complained (as you would) and they said they would test it again and get back to me.
still waiting..
I gave this product a .5 out of 5 because that's the score i received after testing the speed at testmy.net
what a pos

Same issues as abouve runs on HSDPA 90% of the time which renders the unit useless. Ok when it is in 3g mode yet unless you are outdoors and directly below a tower than you do not get much. The care factor of the customer "SERVICE" is ZERO .. 4 months of a 12 month contract to go then off to the bin it goes. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Great when it works!
Cons
Next to useless when it doesn't

Ours worked fine for about 2 months early this year. Then they decided to upgrade the mobile tower in our area and since then it's been almost useless. It connects for about 10 seconds then goes off for about 1 - 2 minutes. After Easter they sent out a technician who found faults with their mobile tower. That fixed the problem until Wednesday. Now we have the same problem again!
Most of the call centre staff boarder on being useless. Rather than take proper notes I've had to explain this problem over & over & over. They need to be trained in proper customer service!

i have had the pocket wifi now for a little over a month and for that month it worked fine. Now all of a sudden it isnt working at all.No 3G connections,it is all HSPDA,verrry slow,no pages opening,i will be lucky if what im writting here even gets posted.I have even tried resetting and it done absolutely nothing. On the wifi modem itself it is only registering that i have been connected for 11 seconds when i have been connected now for about 20 minutes. At the moment this product sucks. But it does seem to coincide with the National Broadband Network being kicked off.Is there any internet connections out there that actually deliver what they promise??????

STYLISTIC Q702

First impression on unpacking the Q702 test unit was the solid feel and clean, minimalist styling.

For work use, Microsoft Word and Excel programs pre-installed on the device are adequate for preparing short documents.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
