- — 26 November, 2010 11:08
Whether you're looking for a sub-$200 compact digital camera for everyday use, or a more expensive compact camera that has manual features, we've got you covered.
Buying a camera for the holidays can be a trying experience as there are so many models to choose from, with many different capabilities and price points. In this round-up, we selected a few inexpensive cameras that we think can get the job done, as well as some more advanced compacts that get the job done and then some.
If all you want is to buy a camera for your kids or grandparents, then something like the Canon PowerShot A490 is perfect; if you want to buy a more advanced camera either for yourself or someone special, then you should spend a little more and check out the fantastic little Canon PowerShot S95, which offers lots manual features in a small and elegant package.
Happy shopping!
4 / 10
The Canon PowerShot SX210 IS has lots of design quirks, but its small body packs in a versatile range of features. It includes a 14x zoom lens, an f/3.1 lens and the ability to control the exposure manually, and you can also shoot video at 720p. Its overall image quality is good, albeit soft, but it's a fine compact shooter to have at your disposal for everyday snaps and is an ideal size to take with you while travelling.
