Best 10 inch tablets

We round-up the best 10in tablets on the market

Apple has promoted a one size fits all approach with its 9.7in iPad and iPad 2 tablets, and most of the competition has followed suit with similar sized 10.1in models.

Pitched as ideal media consumption devices, 10in tablets are said to be the ideal tech device that sits between a smartphone and a notebook — large enough to work comfortably on, but light enough to carry around on a day to day basis.

Popular 10in tablets include the Galaxy Tab 10.1v, sold exclusively through Vodafone, the Motorola Xoom, launching initially on Telstra and then available through Optus, and the Acer Iconia A500, sold through retailers including Harvey Norman and Myer.

Upcoming releases are set to include the thinner Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (not to be confused with the current Galaxy Tab 10.1v), ASUS' Eee Pad Transformer and Eee Pad Slider models, and the webOS-powered HP TouchPad.

ASUS Eee Pad Slider

ASUS deserves some credit for trying something new in a market filled with "me too" devices, but the end result is well short of the mark. The Eee Pad Slider may have a built-in keyboard but the trade-offs come in the form of an awkward size and heavy weight. If you really want an Android tablet with a keyboard, give the Eee Pad Slider a miss and take a look at the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer instead.
