    ASUS F6V-3P182E 18/12/2008 12:30:00

ASUS' new smellbook: is it scent-tastic or a bit of a stinker?
The 13.3in ASUS F6V-3P182E has an arty lid design, a great variety of ports and could have been a strong choice for non-business users on the move. However its major flaw is also its unique selling point: a built-in smell.

    ASUS U6 Bamboo (U6V-2P048G) 21/11/2008 16:50:00

Wooden construction, but plenty of personality
Remember the good old days, when your TV and amplifier sported wooden panels and gave you a sense of warmth and comfort? Well, the days of consumer electronics with wood features are back: ASUS, the tech company that is always up on the latest fashions, has released a laptop that incorporates bamboo panels for its lid and palm rest. The U6 Bamboo Series, as it's called, is actually not as tacky as it sounds; rather than being a throwback to the '70s, the laptop's wood looks quite tasteful. It also feels good to the touch, and, most importantly, doesn't compromise the usability of the laptop.

    ASUS N10J-HV009G 21/11/2008 11:50:00

    Inexpensive, fully featured ultraportable.
Following on from the success of the Eee PC, ASUS has taken the same concept and created an ultraportable laptop with slightly beefier specifications, more security features and better looks. Its name is the N10J, and it puts more emphasis on style than most laptops on the market. Its glossy, champagne-coloured panels, latch-less screen and chrome details should make it a hit with the ladies, but it should also appeal to plenty of guys.

    ASUS M50VM-AS001G 08/10/2008 18:10:00

A heavy device that packs a strong kick.
Although we were somewhat disappointed in ASUS for its M51VA-AS045G, it has also brought out the M50VM-AS001G which is identical but for two points of difference -- it has a better graphics card and finally provides Gigabit Ethernet.

    ASUS M51VA-AS045G 18/09/2008 13:50:00

A good all-purpose notebook that falls short of greatness
If you’re not looking for a Blu-ray capable unit and you don’t mind a screen that is only average, the ASUS M51VA-AS045G is a notebook that has "future-proofing" written all over it, thanks to an excellent variety of expansion options and strong hardware performance. The sad exceptions to this are its inability to play Blu-ray discs and the absence of Gigabit Ethernet.

    ASUS P5Q3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP@n 11/09/2008 17:15:00

    Environmentally aware, but also speedy
There's much to like about the P5Q3 Deluxe, which is a motherboard that makes use of Intel's P45 chipset. It's a fully-featured board that's perfect for a mid-level or high-end system, but it runs DDR3 memory, which means you probably won't be able to use your existing RAM if you're planning an upgrade. However, DDR3 isn't too expensive these days.

    ASUS F8Va 28/08/2008 09:50:00

    A laptop with the lot
At 14.1in the F8Va isn't huge but it's also not an ideal travel companion. It's rather bulky to use while on the road and its battery life is poor. It's much better suited as a point-to-point type of notebook; that is, one which you can use at work or in class, and at home, but not while on the road. Powerful specifications ensure that you will be able to run most office applications and even photo editing and video encoding software.

    ASUS Eee PC 1000H 19/08/2008 14:00:00

    More Eee for your money
ASUS is the company responsible for starting the sub-$1000 ultraportable notebook craze -- 'netbooks', as they've been dubbed -- but the company is not resting on its laurels.

    ASUS Eee Box B202 13/08/2008 12:30:00

A small PC for basic tasks
One thing's for sure: the ASUS Eee Box, like the Eee PC, is tiny and inexpensive. But while we like the idea of a slim PC for the home or the office, we wish that the Box was a better product straight out of the box.

The Asus Eee 1000 -- more power, still portable 04/08/2008 09:00:22

The latest iteration of Asus' groundbreaking mini-notebook adds a faster CPU, a larger display and a better keyboard.
It often takes high-tech vendors three tries to get a product right. Microsoft is the best example of this rule of three. (Think of how buggy and insecure Windows XP was until 1Service Pack 2 came out. Upstart mini-laptop maker Asustek Computer, it turns out, is another.

    ASUS Eee PC 901 17/07/2008 12:00:00

    Faster, sleeker, longer-lasting
Weighing 1.1kg, the Eee PC 901 is slightly heavier than its predecessor, the 900, and it also sports a slightly different chassis and design. A glossy black finish gives the 901 a touch of menace and street cred, but it's the guts of the unit that are most noteworthy.
