Its technical specifications suggest the Internet Key E160 is an inferior modem to 3 Mobile's E180 modem. But in practice its throughput speeds and Next G compatibility make for a great wireless broadband modem.

3 Mobile's USB modem is a flexible alternative to PCMCIA cards, but be sure to check HSDPA network coverage before you buy

3 Mobile's Internet Key Modem E180 won't break the bank but will provide you with a reasonable mobile Internet solution. The flimsy feeling hinge could be an issue in the long term and excess data charges are expensive, but speed and performance combined with reasonable plan costs make this definitely worth a look.

If you really need to share your wireless broadband when you're not out and about, then this is a reasonable, albeit not outstanding solution. Keep in mind that it's only been designed for 3 Mobile subscribers. If you don’t fall into this category, then you’ll need to look at the slightly pricier alternative of a non-carrier specific router that supports USB modems.

The Aspire One AOD250 (ZG8) with an integrated Next G module is one of the best netbooks on the market. The integrated 3G module means there are no dongles hanging off it, and the overall build quality and style of the netbook is superb. We recommend it for anyone who wants a small laptop to get online anywhere and anytime.

Amazon's Kindle is certainly an interesting device, even if it's not without its faults. The e-ink screen is exceptionally good, the ability to browse and buy books wirelessly is a great feature, and the physical design is both attractive and functional. However, the lack of native PDF support, the higher price of books for international users and the lack of an effective way to sort your purchased content means the Kindle has plenty of room for improvement left.

Safari 4 has come out of its short beta period to blossom as a remarkably attractive and well featured modern web browser. For Windows users, Safari has previously been something of an also-ran behind Firefox and IE, but with Safari 4, the browser could catch up on XP to Windows 7 systems too. Safari 4 is extremely fast in its page rendering thanks to the refined WebKit engine, and offers some genuinely useful user interface elements which make finding sites quicker and browsing a more comfortable experience.

This router is for users who want to share a 3G Internet connection. It's not a versatile device—it won't also double as an ADSL router, for example—but for its designed purpose, it will do a good job.

This affordable all-in-one ADSL2+ modem and wireless router proved to be reliable throughout our test period, as it stayed constantly connected to our ISP. It's definitely a unit you should consider if you also want steady wireless throughput.
