The Samsung SyncMaster P2250 LCD monitor looks great and performs reasonably well, though it’s a little pricey when factoring in the lack of an HDMI input.

Samsung's SyncMaster 2243BWX monitor doesn’t really offer anything to get excited about, but it's good value at this price. The lack of an HDMI input is a sour point, but for office use this is a good choice.

The Samsung SyncMaster 2033SW is a 16:9 LCD monitor with a high resolution for its screen size. It is well designed for watching widescreen HD movie content, but it doesn’t have the connection options to make it a great all-rounder.

The Samsung SyncMaster 2333SW offers excellent image quality and a stylish design. The lack of HDMI and an awkward stand mount are minor issues, and a Full HD resolution and great colour are more than enough to compensate.

Samsung's SyncMaster 2493 is an almost flawless 24in display. It renders motion excellently, has great contrast and colour reproduction and packs in an HDMI input and a resolution of 1920x1080. Whatever you're using your display for, this unit should cut the mustard.

It'll deliver a good quality image and has plenty of inputs, but it's expensive.

The Samsung 305T offers excellent, professional build quality and comes with four USB ports and an ergonomic height-adjustable stand. With an RRP of $2299.95 this is certainly a pricey peripheral, but if you search around you can find it on sale for less than $2000, which then compares favourably with 30in competitors from Dell and Apple. Hazro's model costs a lot less, but comes without the height adjustable stand or USB ports.

For users who work with colour-sensitive applications such as image and video editing, this screen can't be beat. It was pretty much flawless during our colour tests and its viewing angles were excellent. If you're a pro, this screen is well worth considering.

The Samsung SyncMaster 206BW is a very good widescreen desktop display. It is competitively priced and, once calibrated, performed very well in our text and colour tests. But, of course, you get what you pay for. If you can live with a limited viewing angle and a relatively inflexible design, and without a lot of extra features, the Samsung SyncMaster 206BW could be a fine choice if you're looking for a medium-sized display on a small budget.

Samsung's SyncMaster 305T is pricey, but it's within the range of what other 30in LCDs cost. If you seek a monitor on which to spread out and see lots of documents at once, the 305T would be a fine choice.

It's not a perfect monitor; viewing from the sides and from the top causes some colour-shift and it did look a little dull in our photo tests, but the 245B is a decent high-definition monitor for productivity and multimedia use. Because it's a high-definition monitor, we would have liked the inclusion of video-in ports.

All things considered, this monitor is very easy on the eyes. Its colour reproduction was excellent, it didn't suffer from any motion problems and it was viewable even from the most obtuse angles. It's well worth considering, if you can afford it, and not only can it be used as a computer monitor, it can also be used to plug in gaming consoles, a digital TV set-top box, or even a VCR.
