All in all, Ashampoo Cover Studio should cover just about anyone's disc labelling needs. Our only minor complaint is the internet menu with a whopping seven items pointing to Ashampoo including "Recommend the program to a friend." That's all harmless enough, but as always with Ashampoo software, if you download the trial from the Softonics site they point you to, be careful that you click on the correct link for the free download, avoiding the misleading advertising and obnoxious attempts to sell you a "fast" download.

My guess is that during a normal workday, Core Tuner's performance benefits will never make up for the resources and CPU cycles utilised by the program sitting in the system tray.

The price tag is hefty, but there are enough extra features to justify it. Included is a registry cleaner, hard drive cleaner, hard drive defragmenter, disk scrubber, and a whole slew of other utilities, all full-featured and functional in their own right. If you don't need any of these, perhaps a cheaper and simpler program is better.

If you don't need many high-end features, Ashampoo Presentations will save you a lot of money compared to PowerPoint, and is well worth a look — and potentially, a purchase.

At $82, Ashampoo WinOptimizer 6.0 isn't cheap. But if you want an all-in-one system optimiser that does a superb job, you'll find it worth the money.

Power users will certainly welcome Ashampoo PowerUp, even if it doesn't offer as much advice for those with a less technical background.

For light users with even a passing knowledge of Microsoft Office, Ashampoo Office 2008 will be a decent buy that's familiar and easy to use (just as well, given the lack of documentation). In our tests we encountered no compatibility issues. But although $103 is a lot less than MS Office 2007's retail price of $690, similar products such as Star Office 8.0 ($69.95) are much less still. And if you're in the market for an inexpensive, stripped down productivity suite, OpenOffice.org and Google Docs, Spreadsheets and Presentations are so cheap they're, well, free.
