The Pioneer KURO PDP-508XDA is easily the best plasma television we have reviewed thus far. Even though it is a little more expensive than other 50in plasmas on the market, it is money well spent.

To put it simply, Pioneer's PDP-LX608A is the best plasma around right now. While you certainly pay a hefty price if you can afford it, this TV will handle both high- and standard-definition content perfectly.

If you’re looking for a plasma television that’s even more amazing than Pioneer’s KURO series, Panasonic’s Premiere Series TVs should be your port of call.

We’re sad to say that this is the last Pioneer plasma television for the foreseeable future — and likely the last ever. Pioneer leaves the market on a high note though: the Kuro PDP-LX609A is the best plasma television screen we’ve seen.

The 50in Panasonic TH-P50G10A is a great choice if you're after a plasma television. It costs less than Pioneer’s plasmas but offers very similar picture quality and a modern design, as well as a few extras that may sway digital media enthusiasts.

The PDP-5000EX is the best display available on the market, though it comes at a price.

Samsung's Series 8 (PS50B850) plasma television is a brilliant product. Almost-peerless picture quality, a great design and a range of integrated features make it yet another new Samsung TV we heartily recommend. You do pay for the privilege, but that's really the only downside.

The KURO PDP-C509A plasma TV lets you enjoy Pioneer’s class-leading picture quality and black levels at less than half the price of the class-topping Pioneer PDP-LX609A. That makes it fantastic value, despite the television’s lack of multimedia features.

The LG PS80 plasma is a great all-in-one solution for watching broadcast television as well as high-definition content. It only suffers from a few small flaws.

This is a great TV, but it does come at a high price. For purely high-definition playback, however, it's hard to beat.

The Panasonic VIERA TH-50PZ700A performed brilliantly with HD content and very well with SD and PC content. While the latter wasn't perfect, they were still usable, just not perfect. Anyone purchasing this unit will not be disappointed.
