NEC's ShieldPro is the new kid on the block when it comes to ruggedised notebooks for extreme work environments. It's a 12.1in, super-sturdy tablet-convertible notebook that can operate even while being pelted by rain showers. NEC guarantees that it'll survive a drop from 90cm (when switched off) and claims that it can be used in conditions ranging from -20 to 50 degrees Celsius. It's well-suited to the factory floor and the outback.
