Rockstar announces Red Dead Redemption

Pistols at dawn... sometime this year

Though hinted at as far back as 2005, Rockstar only recently formally announced its latest video game, Red Dead Redemption. The successor to the 2004 hit Red Dead Revolver, the game sees players in the shoes of a different outlaw, John Marston, in the Wild West at the turn of the 20th century. Details remain scant, but the game will run on the RAGE engine — the same used in Grand Theft Auto IV — and should hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 close to the end of the year.
