Price: $998

Even with television prices falling in 2009, it's still difficult to find a large screen for under $1000 with a decent resolution. The 40in Soniq QSL400XT isn't exactly what we'd call massive, but it's big enough for most purposes. Its 1080p Full HD resolution makes it a good choice for Blu-ray movie watching, and most importantly you can pick it up for only $998 at JB Hi-Fi.
