HTC Hero smartphone

RRP: $799 (Save: $90)

HTC's much-anticipated Hero smartphone was finally launched in Australia this week. Running Google's Android operating system, the Hero boasts a distinctive design, an excellent user interface and is packed with the latest features. HTC has partnered with retailer Harvey Norman rather than a carrier for the launch of the Hero, but online mobile phone store MobiCity sells an imported Hero for $709, saving you $90 off the regular RRP. Better still, MobiCity offers the Hero in white, brown and pink — none of which are available in Australia.

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
