Vendors come out in force to support Intel's Core CPU launch

More than a dozen vendors showcased their latest notebooks and PCs at Sydney's Ivy Room

Intel yesterday had a fancy launch for its Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs. With over a dozen vendors on hand to showcase their latest laptops, PCs and more, the event was the largest we've seen in some time and there was a suitably large crowd on hand to take it all in.

The big thing about the new CPUs is their integrated HD graphics chip, which should enable vendors to make smaller and cooler running PCs. Unfortunately, only a couple of vendors -- Altech and Octek -- showed off small desktop PCs. Most of focus was on mid-sized notebooks and mobile workstations.
