Nikon CoolPix L22 digital camera

Price: $149 (negotiable)

The Nikon Coolpix L22 may be a basic point-and-shoot camera that lacks manual controls, but it can take clear and well-coloured images. It’s small, light, and all you have to do is just aim at your subject and press the shutter button. It has a 12-megapixel sensor and a 3.6x zoom lens, and it runs on two AA batteries, so you can just pop in to your nearest store for a set of disposables when you run out of juice — this makes it great for travellers. Bing Lee currently has the L22 for $149, which is the standard retail price, but everything in Bing Lee is negotiable. If you’re a fast talker, you might be able to get it a little cheaper.

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
