In Pictures: 8 hot ultrabooks to watch

As the new Intel Ivy Bridge processors were unveiled so were a flurry of ultrabooks, here are eight that are worth a closer look.

Asus Zenbook Prime

The Asus Zenbook Prime builds on the success of the original Zenbook with an upgrade to the new third-generation Intel Core processor. This means an incredibly slim profile of 3mm at the front and 9mm at the rear, weighing less than 2.5 pounds. Besides a stunning full HD (1920x1080) 11.6-inch IPS screen, this ultrabook also supports a range of peripherals such as a mini-VGA port, two USB 3.0 ports and a micro HDMI 1.4 port. Drive capacities in the form of a 128GB or 256GB SSD is available. A 13.3-inch version of the Zenbook Prime is also available.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
