In Pictures: Linux for mobile. A visual history

A look through the history of Linux-based mobile platforms.

WebOS PalmOS really defined the PDA market in the 1990's. But that system was growing old and crusty, and WebOS was Palm's way of moving into the future. Launched in January of 2009, WebOS was built on the Linux kernel with applications being primarily written in HTML and Javascript. In this way, WebOS was a lot like Android, only with web-focused technologies instead of Java.Oh, and it looked gorgeous. Technically, WebOS is not dead... though it never really took off. And it's future looks to be primarily in the TV world instead of on mobile devices.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
