Apple delays iPod mini to July

Apple’s forecasting has let down its international channel yet again.

The company has pushed back the overseas availability of its iPod mini by three months, blaming stronger than expected demand in the US.

The iPod had been expected to reach Australian in April, but Apple has confirmed the worldwide release date for the 4GB hard drive music player is now July.

“The iPod mini is a huge hit with customers in the US and we’re sure it will be the same worldwide once we can ramp up our supply in the July quarter,” Apple’s executive vice-president of worldwide sales and operations, Tim Cook, said.

Disruption to Australian customers would be minimal as orders for the product couldn't be taken yet, Apple Centre Burwood sales representative, Ben Wright, said.

The reseller had begun an informal register of more than 30 customers who wished to be notified when the iPod mini was available, he said.

iPod mini is Apple’s play for the high-end flash memory music player market. It will come in five colours.

Local pricing has yet to be announced.

If you can afford the price tag, it is well worth the money. It out performs any other laptop I have tried for gaming, and the transportable design and incredible display also make it ideal for work.
