IT Thought Leaders Partner with VERITAS to Drive Utility Computing Technology

Chicago Board of Trade, Corrections Corporation of America, DHL, eBay and United Airlines Loyalty Services work with VERITAS to extend utility computing model

LAS VEGAS – VERITAS VISIONTM 2004 – May 6, 2004 – VERITAS Software Corporation (Nasdaq: VRTSE) today announced the formation of the VERITAS Utility Computing Customer Advisory Board (CAB). The Utility Computing CAB members will partner with VERITAS executives to work together to shape VERITAS' utility computing business strategy and technology development. Founding members include IT leaders from the Chicago Board of Trade, Corrections Corporation of America, DHL and United Airlines Loyalty Services.

VERITAS Utility Computing CAB members are senior IT executives responsible for the overall IT infrastructure architecture within their global enterprise environments. These thought leaders are using VERITAS products to lay the groundwork for achieving a utility model in their respective companies that will enable them to closely align IT with business needs.

“The utility computing model provides a major opportunity for the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) to directly tie its IT investment and performance to CBOT business objectives,” said Mark Dixon, vice president of technical services, Chicago Board of Trade. “As a member of the VERITAS Utility Computing Customer Advisory Board, I look forward to working directly with VERITAS and top IT executives to help drive the direction of these technologies to continue meeting the demands of our customers.”

The VERITAS Utility Computing CAB will provide members with an open communication forum for idea exchange and debate. Members will meet regularly with senior VERITAS executives, and their input is expected to directly influence VERITAS’ long-term utility computing business strategy and technology development. The Utility Computing CAB also provides a best-practices forum for members to share innovative strategies and discuss utility computing successes in a peer-to-peer environment.

In conjunction with the Utility Computing CAB, VERITAS has formed an internal Customer Advocacy Executive Steering Committee, which will provide a consistent channel by which executive management reviews input from customers and takes it into consideration when setting the company’s R&D investment priorities and strategy direction. VERITAS executive committee members include: Mark Bregman, executive vice president, product operations; Greg Hughes, executive vice president, global services; and Art Matin, executive vice president, worldwide sales.

To facilitate effective incorporation of CAB feedback into VERITAS’ strategy, the committee will meet quarterly to review CAB meeting findings and to facilitate bi-directional information sharing between customers and executive management. They will also report back to CAB members regarding the status of VERITAS’ incorporation of feedback, continually helping to shape future product direction.

“The formation of the Utility Computing Customer Advisory Board provides an open forum for the exchange of ideas with VERITAS customers who are making utility computing a reality,” said Bregman. “These customer members are thought leaders in their respective industries and will help us ensure that our future product roadmap provides the best possible business value and increases our customers' competitive advantage long-term.”
