The Eyes Have It: Argus Solutions Wins ATS Award

<p>Argus Solutions was announced the winner in the category of Outstanding Achievement in International Markets in the annual Australian Technology Showcase (ATS) Patrons’ Awards held at Government House last night.</p>
<p>Competing in a pool of 20 candidates, Argus Solutions made it to the last 6 finalists who each had to make a 30 minute presentation to explain the technology last week.</p>
<p>Mr Carey McMahon, Chief Operating Officer, accepted the award last night on behalf of Argus from the NSW Treasurer and Minister for State Development, Michael Egan.</p>
<p>Said Mr Egan, “ATS Week is all about showcasing NSW’s leading technology players and providing a series of business events that support and nurture the continuing evolution of smart industries in this State”.</p>
<p>“Argus Solutions has completed a successful border control trial with the Singapore Government and is now pursuing further opportunities for export sales in Singapore, the United States and United Kingdom, China, Malaysia and the Middle East.</p>
<p>“Argus’ patented iris recognition system had netted $600,000 in export sales in two years - a considerable achievement for a new, innovative technology” he said.</p>
<p>The ATS Patrons’ Award acknowledges outstanding achievement in international markets by a NSW member of the Australian Technology Showcase.</p>
<p>Prizes included two business class airfares for promotional trips into promising export markets, advisory services from Macquarie Bank, assistance from venture capitalist firm Pacific Capital Corporation and a giant Panasonic plasma screen.</p>
<p>“We were up against some pretty clever technology” said McMahon “so we are absolutely thrilled with this result. We will be using the prize to help further penetrate international market opportunities. It is great recognition for our development and commercial teams.</p>
<p>“This recognition really shows that our technology here in Australia is leading the world.”</p>
