HP's regional enterprise storage conference shows a huge number of customers and partners the art of control

SYDNEY, September 19, 2003 Hewlett Packard's (HP) position as the world’s number one enterprise storage vendor was reinforced at this year's ENSA@WORK conference, the region's largest annual enterprise storage event. More than 650 HP customers and partners from across Asia Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand, travelled to Shanghai, China for the three day event.

Commenting on its success, Andrew Manners, Director, HP Network Storage Solutions, HP South Pacific, said 10 per cent of this year's ENSA@WORK attendees were made up of Australians and New Zealanders, the largest customer representation outside of China, which exceeded expectations and clearly demonstrates an ongoing commitment to ENSA.

"This event is the company's largest and most comprehensive annual gathering of industry professionals who deploy HP's enterprise storage solutions.

"ENSA@WORK demonstrates how HP's adaptive storage infrastructure fits into our vision of an Adaptive Enterprise, where customers are in control of their IT operations, enabling their IT service levels to match the flow of real time business activities."

HP's Australian based Asia Pacific Enterprise Storage Centre, launched last year at Rhodes, New South Wales, played a key role in showcasing HP's Open SANs initiative, with a range of live technical demonstrations at the conference.

"This 'proof of concept' center houses over AUD$15 million dollars of the latest range of storage technologies, and has the first and largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere at its launch in 2002 and remains so to this day," said Manners.

"It's a true 'show and tell' facility where customers across Asia Pacific are seeing first hand how storage infrastructure solutions work in a variety of heterogeneous environments through large scale demonstrations, benchmarking tests and hands on training."

Delegates at the conference heard from industry analysts, customers and partners, such as Microsoft, Brocade, Cisco, McData and Quantum. They also observed live product demonstrations and discussed their individual storage requirements with visiting senior HP executives and other storage experts.

"With more than 650 delegates taking part, ENSA@WORK remains the ultimate forum for HP to unveil its latest storage strategies and product roadmaps to our customers and partners," said Manners.

"Our investment in the ENSA@WORK conference, and the continued strong showing by the industry, proves that HP is more serious than ever about further strengthening its leadership position in this space."

ENSA@Work in Shanghai ran from September 7 to 10. The event included keynote addresses from HP and partners, panel discussions with storage analysts and customers, workshops, a Storage Area Network (SAN) clinic, and an exhibition of the latest HP and partner solutions.
