Storage vendor Verbatim has announced its 1-16X speed DVD+R media will be available in November.
DVD burners will be able to record up to 4.7GB of data to the discs at 21MBps.
Like the DVD-R standard, 16X is the highest write speed of DVD discs commercially available.
Unlike DVD-R, the DVD+RW standard has not been approved by the DVD Forum. The standard's progress has instead been spearheaded by the DVD+RW Alliance.
A Verbatim spokesperson said pricing had not been set as "final packaging configurations still need to be established".
