Windows has allowed us to personalise our desktops for quite some time, adding pictures of our babies, pets or favourite football team to brighten up a dull PC screen. Vivi Desktop Pro goes one further by letting you add moving images to your desktop for a more animated experience.
The software comes with a small selection of clips to get you started, transporting your screen to tropical climes. Think wind blowing through palm trees, aquamarine waves lapping the shores and a waterfall crashing over picturesque rocks. Alternatively, you could even watch a cutesy little pug-style dog running across your screen, if that’s what does it for you.
You can add your own AVI or MPEG files, so your movies can have that personal touch. The MBSmaker can be used to turn your digital movies into a moving desktop or screensaver.
If you think moving images on your PC screen would be a touch distracting, you can use the software to display still pictures in TIF or JPEG format, although this is nothing more than Windows already offers. You can also display a desktop calendar against your chosen backdrop, either in full-screen mode or with a minimised picture size. Hardly must-have software, but it’s a harmless bit of fun and will certainly brighten up a drab desktop.
