Microsoft Appoints David McLean Regional Director, Microsoft Home Entertainment Division (HED) Australia and New Zealand

<p>11 March, Sydney – Microsoft’s Home Entertainment Division (HED) today announced the appointment of David McLean to the position of Regional Director, Microsoft HED, Australia and New Zealand.</p>
<p>Based in Sydney, Australia, McLean will assume the overall management for Microsoft HED within the Australian and New Zealand markets.</p>
<p>McLean has been with Microsoft for the past 7 years where he has most recently managed the Xbox© business in his capacity as Regional Group Manager.</p>
<p>McLean has been an instrumental player driving the overwhelming success of the Xbox business in Australia, which has obtained over 40% Australian market share to date in 2004*, and was the only next generation console to grow in the Australian market year on year in the last half of 2003*.</p>
<p>“It is with great anticipation that I accept the reins of Microsoft HED in Australia and New Zealand,” says McLean. “With the growth of Xbox Live™ the world’s first unified online gaming system and our incredibly strong local market share in Australia and New Zealand, Microsoft is in a unique position to lead the digital revolution in home entertainment.”</p>
<p>The position has been vacated due to the promotion of Alan Bowman who was appointed to the position of General Manager, Microsoft HED, Asia Pacific and Greater China Region last year.</p>
<p>Also based in Sydney, Australia, Bowman who has been with Microsoft in excess of 12 years has now assumed overall responsibility for strategic management and leadership for Microsoft HED throughout the Asia Pacific and greater China regions. In addition to China, Bowman will continue to oversee the management of all Asia Pacific subsidiaries including: Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore as well as India, Australia and New Zealand.</p>
