Sydney, 15 March 2004: Australian mobile computing leader, Toshiba (Australia) Pty. Limited Information Systems Division (ISD), has appointed a new specialist product management team dedicated to marketing its range of notebooks, projectors, Pocket PCs and personal storage products.

Matt Codrington, Judi Liddiard and Justin White have been appointed as product marketing managers with responsibility for one each of the three distinct segments that have been established to address the needs of defined target users:

Volume value segment - Matt Codrington:
- Satellite notebooks: includes the retail and business range of Satellite notebooks designed with features and affordability for small to medium businesses (SMBs), students and individual users.
- Portable storage products including SD cards, compact flash, PC cards, and hard disk drives.

Business segment – Judi Liddiard:
- Tecra notebooks: for use by small to medium business, large corporations and Government departments. This includes the Tecra M2, Toshiba’s flagship business notebook released to the market last month; as well as the Tecra S1 models.

Highly specialised segment – Justin White:
- Portégé notebooks: the highly differentiated ultra portable and feature-packed range for traveling executives and specialist users. This includes the Portégé M200, Toshiba’s second generation tablet PC; the Portégé R100, the world’s slimmest and lightest notebook, and the magnesium-forged Portégé M100.
- Projector range: Toshiba seven models are designed specifically to meet home theatre, business presentation or retail business needs.
- Pocket PCs including Toshiba’s wireless-enabled e800 Pocket PC, and the market’s slimmest and lightest Pocket PC, the e400.

“We are seeing the mobile computing marketplace become increasingly differentiated according to user requirements,” said Mark Whittard, National Marketing Manager, Toshiba ISD. “With these appointments, Toshiba is further strengthening its ability to provide specialist mobile computing products and service to meet the individual needs of users.”

“Matt, Judi and Justin are a tight, highly-qualified team and will work closely with our dedicated reseller channel, ensuring we maintain our market lead in Australia and New Zealand.”

The three product managers already have in-depth knowledge of Toshiba’s products and the broader market segments, having each been with the company for some time.

Matt Codrington has been with Toshiba since September 2002, looking after the retail and consumer sides of the business, and is well placed to maximise the opportunities presented by the growth in demand for mobile computing occurring in the SMB space. Matt previously worked with HP in a channel management role where he grew sales by 180 percent in a similar sector.

Judi Liddiard joined Toshiba in January 2002 with responsibility for Pocket PCs, projectors and storage devices. Prior to Toshiba, Judi was a channel business manager at Compaq where she managed a $96 million budget across the product line with particular emphasis on fleet buying and Government purchases. She also spent eight years with Tech Pacific Group, building her account into one of Tech Pacific’s top five with 12 months.

A Toshiba veteran of more than 11 years with experience in both marketing and sales, Justin White has intimate knowledge of Toshiba’s full product range and strong relationships with the reseller channel.

About Toshiba

Toshiba’s Information Systems Division (ISD) is a division of Toshiba (Australia) Pty Limited which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation, the seventh largest integrated manufacturer of electric and electronic equipment, with around 165,000 employees worldwide, and annual sales of over US$47 billion on a consolidated basis. It’s easy to set up, it’s compact and quiet when printing and to top if off, the print quality is excellent. This is hands down the best printer I’ve used for printing labels.
